Champion Juicer’s Cool Summer Juice #2

Keep your cool this summer with a refreshing melon juice. There are many choices you can pick from the melon family, to name a few, Cantaloupe, Honeydew and Watermelon.

Melon is a common name given to various species of the Cucurbitaceae family with fleshy fruit.

Melon juice can be prepared using a blender but my personal preference is to use Champion Juicer. Champion Juicer extracts the clear melon juice very well and expels the pulp without any further straining whereas the blended melon juice tends to be a bit more fibrous and that’s not ideal as a thirst quencher.

Before juicing melon, it is always a good practice to wash the melon thoroughly as the skin of the melon may contain harmful bacteria pathogens such as the salmonella. Cut away the skin and slice the melon into segments small enough to feed into the feeding chamber of Champion Juicer. Discard all seeds where possible. Feed the segments one after another at a steady speed into the Champion Juicer to avoid any unnecessary heating up.

Always chill your melon before juicing if you want an instant cool melon juice as Champion Juicer is capable of maintaining the temperature of the chilled melon due to its low Rpm.

Cantaloupe juice is a good source of polyphenol antioxidants, which is essential to maintain healthy cardiovascular system and immune system. Cantaloupe juice also provides excellent vitamin C and beta carotene.

Champion Juicer is known to produce high quality Honeydew juice. Honeydew juice contains high Vitamin C, B6, folate, pantothenic acid and potassium but low in sodium. Honeydew juice also helps to overcome high blood pressure, skin disorders and other related problems of the circulatory system.

Watermelon juice is effective in clearing water retention problem in your body. It is mildly diuretic. Watermelon juice’s red pigment signifies the presence of Lycopene. Lycopene is a red carotenoid pigment and phytochemical found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables. When extracting watermelon juice using Champion Juicer, it draws out the rich vitamins A, B6 and C as well as potassium from the fruit.

What can be better than a glass of refreshing cool juice in the mid noon of a hot summer day? With the hot summer heat consuming my entire being, I dug deep into my Champion Juicer recipes archive, and retrieved a few of my favorites. Here’s one….

Cu-Lime Cool” with Champion Juicer

  • 2 Green Cucumbers
  • 1 Lime
  • Honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Peel the cucumber if it is not organically grown. Slice into big long strip for ease of feeding them into the Champion Juicer feeding chamber.

Clean the lime and cut into quarters. Remove all seeds as the seeds may leave you with a bitter after taste. Push the two ingredients into the feeding chamber of the Champion Juicer and voila, you get yourself an instant fix !  You may grate the zest of an extra lime for garnishing and added floral aroma.

Lime is a good source of Vitamin C and cucumber’s cooling properties give a rejuvenating touch to the body. Cucumber juice aids skin eruptions of many kinds, especially with the addition of a little alfalfa juice.

Juicing Fruits with Champion Juicer

Raw vegetables and fruits juices prepared using Champion Juicer is unbeatable in terms of its healing properties. Generally, I would prefer to juice my daily minimum 5 servings of raw vegetables and eat the fruits in whole. No matter how nutritious the fruits are, they still contain a certain amount of sugar in the form of fructose. Fructose contributes to extra calories input into our bodies.

Having said so, the addition of certain fruits in the raw vegetable juices made by Champion Juicer is beneficial. It broadens the nutrition spectrum in the juice and enhances its overall taste as well.

My top pick of fruits are mainly citrus fruits such as, oranges, grapefruits, lemons, lime and tangerine. These citrus fruits contains high vitamin C which is a high detoxifying and cleansing agents. Their fructose content are relatively lower as compared to other sweet fruits. Citrus fruits may be added to carrot, cucumber, celery, beets juices to make excellent juice. Always alternate the vegetables with the juicy citrus fruits when pushing them into the Champion Juicer. This helps to extract the hard vegetables more efficiently.

Other fruits which can be added to the vegetable juices are, star fruits, pineapples, green papaya, green apples and guava.

Peel and discard the rinds and seeds of all the citrus fruits, keep the white pith as they are a good source of bioflavonoids. Peel carrots and cucumbers if they are not organically grown. Feed the cut pieces into the feeding chamber of Champion Juicer alternating hard vegetables with soft fruits. That will help Champion Juicer runs smoother and yields more  juices.

Push the cut pieces through the feeding chamber of Champion Juicer following the above sequence. Be sure to run some water through the Champion Juicer before you juice other fruits and vegetables so that the strong smell of the spicy ginger will be rinsed off.

    Getting the most out of Vegetables with Champion Juicer

    I have shared briefly on the benefits of vegetable juice to revitalize our bodies. Now, I am going to share a few tips and tricks on preparing fresh raw vegetable juices using Champion Juicer.

    1.  Which vegetable should you juice?

    • To make juicing pleasant and enjoyable, the vegetables you choose must taste pleasant or according to your taste preference.
    • Avoid strong tasting vegetables eg. leeks, onion, garlic etc even though these are healthy choices.
    • Be creative to try mix and match different types of vegetables so that you will get a good variety of nutrients.
    • One good guide I follow is to incorporate a rainbow colored range of vegetables in my juices. Champion Juicer chews up practically any type of vegetables you feed to the juicing chamber.

    2.  Balance vegetables which are high in sugar content with other lower sugar vegetables.

    • Generally, root vegetables contain higher sugar than those vegetables that grow above the ground.
    • Use carrots, beetroots, potatoes, cabbage etc in moderation and always mix with vegetables like celery, cucumber, leafy greens, lettuce etc. These are choices that are friendly to the Champion Juicer.

    3.  Use organic vegetables whenever possible and stick to local produce.

    • Even though Champion Juicer separates the mineral nutrients from the pulp where inorganic pesticides may be trapped, it is always wise to spent a little more to buy organic grown vegetables. You will get more nutrients out of organic vegetables.

    The best of Carrots with Champion Juicer

    3b716cb518b2972e[1]Throughout my years of juicing fruits and vegetables using Champion Juicer, carrot juice forms the foundation for all the other juices. I add carrot juice into my daily diet.

    When I first started to prepare carrot juice, I was using a blender. The blended carrot juice did not give me the full nutrients which my body needed at that time. It merely cuts up the carrots as fine as I wanted but it did not do the job of extraction.

    I then switched to a centrifugal juicer, which gave me better carrot juices. I benefitted from the carrot juices produced by the centrifugal juicer. I experienced some low level detox when I drank it in big volume. What the centrifugal juice did was, in principle, scratching and grating the carrots on the sharp rotating bottom plate into fine pulp, then using centrifugal force to spin the pulp unto a filter basket which separates the juice from its pulp. The heat produced during the high speed spin has destroy some beneficial enzymes and heat sensitive vitamins.b5fe3a0b6c34fd2c[1]

    After a while, I read about Champion Juicer  and I owned one not long after that. Champion Juicer  chewed up all the carrots and the juice it extracted was very rich, both in taste and color. I experienced detox with just a small glass of carrot juice that Champion Juicer produced. It is awesome!

    The carrot juice made by the Champion Juicer will not oxidize quickly due to the low rpm, therefore you can store them in a screw tight narrow neck glass bottle for a day or two. It will stay fresh throughout.
